Architecture plays an important role in our lives. It lends urban and rural landscapes character, and should ideally be embedded in an intact environment. For us, "Building with conscience" means enhancing functionality and aesthetics on a sustainable basis and creating an environment in which people feel at one with their surroundings. Apart from researching, developing and marketing Sto products, systems and services, we also attach great importance to optimising the value added process for trades people, architects and building owners alike.

In the 1940's a war stranded Dane, Svend Andersen senior arrived in New Plymouth from Buenos Aries having secured a position aboard the Finnish reg sailing ship Pamir. The Pamir was seized in Wellington by the NZ Government as a prize of war after Finland declared hostilities against Russia . Employed to re-rig the ship Svend sailed with the New Zealand crew as bo’sun on several nine month long voyages to San Francisco.
Returning to New Zealand he met Jean Burns a teacher and started a contracting company involved in the refurbishment of numerous Wellington buildings.
Retiring in the eighties his sons Peter and Svend took over the running of the company and expanded into marketing and selling of protective coatings, roofing, plastering, and cladding systems.
During the nineties Svend made contact with Sto in Weizen Germany a world leader in EIFS facade systems and plaster technology and secured the distribution rights for Stoanz Limited as the authorized partner of Sto in Australasia.
Today having manufactured a range of componentry, tested the systems with BRANZ and developed the processes to meet the latest Government legislation Stoanz markets the Sto range of exterior facade cladding, plaster systems, coatings, acoutsitc solutions, resin flooring and machine technology.
We respect the interests of people and nature at all times. In order to define and implement its ecological targets, Sto has developed a system of environmental management conforming to international standards. This relates to the entire process chain - from the procurement of the raw product, to production, packaging and logistics.
Sto products make a clear contribution towards improving the quality of the environment. StoTherm external wall insulation cladding systems are extremely energy efficient, cutting heating requirements and preventing the release of CO² emissions. These systems contribute to the effort Sto is making towards active environmental protection through permanent solutions to reduce air pollution, heating and energy to conserve the global climate.
